Melinda Imthurn
is the Artistic Director of The Women’s
Chorus of Dallas. She holds the Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal
Performance and the Master of Music degree in Vocal Pedagogy from
Texas Woman’s University. She began her musical career as
a voice teacher while still an undergraduate, working as a voice
teacher to public school students. She continued her career in
public education as a secondary school choral director and community
college music instructor. She has been TWCD’s Artistic Director
since December of 2004.
In addition to serving asTWCD's Artistic Director, Melinda serves
on the music faculty of Mountain View College, maintains a busy
vocal studio, and is a frequent clinician for area choral groups
and soloists. She is an active member of the National Association
of Teachers of Singing and is an honored member of Sigma Alpha
Iota. As a singer, she has performed with the Denton Light Opera
Company, Deep Ellum Opera Theatre, Helios Ensemble, Fort Worth
Early Music Society, and in solo recital.
Melinda cherishes the richness gained by the diversity of TWCD’s
members. She shares a deep commitment to TWCD’s mission and
enjoys being a part of the tradition of artistic excellence that
exemplifies The Women’s Chorus of Dallas.
